The Vols just landed yet another prospect from the state of Georgia.
Jalen Smith, a three-star outside linebacker picked the Vols over Texas, Pitt and Virginia Sunday evening, becoming the Vols’ 18th verbal addition to the 2023 cycle. Smith is from Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga. He is the sixth Tennessee commitment for the 2023 class from the state of Georgia.
Smith is the second true linebacker to commit to the Vols’ 2023 class alongside three-star Jeremiah Telander, though there is a strong chance Bishop Gorman running back commit Will Stallings will play linebacker due to his build and experience at the position in high school. Smith, who is listed at 6-foot and 213 pounds, is considered to be the No. 439 prospect in the nation and the No. 40 overall linebacker.
The news comes just hours after Tennessee snagged a commitment from 5-star edge rusher Chandavian Bradley. Josh Heupel is silently putting together one of the top classes in the country after whispers that his inability to recruit would make him less than optimal as a head coach.
It’s likely that Tennessee is not done yet. The Vols are set to hear for a few targets soon, including IMG Academy ATH Samuel M’Pemba, OT Lucas Simmons on Monday and cornerback Ja’Keem Jackson at the end of July.
