Tennessee was picked third in the SEC East by the assembled media at SEC Media Days in Atlanta. The Vols were picked behind Georgia and Kentucky, respectively.
Georgia received 172 first-place votes to win the SEC East. Kentucky received four first-place votes. Tennessee received one. Florida, South Carolina, Missouri and Vanderbilt rounded out the east.
Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker was selected second-team All-SEC behind Alabama’s Bryce Young. UT receiver Cedric Tillman was also selected to the second team. Tennessee center Cooper Mays and offensive tackle Darnell Wright were selected as third-team All-SEC offensive linemen.
Defensively, Tennessee defensive lineman Byron Young, linebacker Jeremy Banks and defensive back Trevon Flowers were selected to the third team. Punter Paxton Brooks was also selected to the third team.
Alabama was picked to win the SEC West and the entire conference this season. The Crimson Tide garnered 158 championship votes followed by Georgia, which received 18 first-place votes. Texas A&M was picked second in the SEC West, followed by Arkansas, Ole Miss, LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn.
