College football programs typically host prospects for home games. Tennessee had a special visitor stop by for the Vols’ road game on Saturday.
Along with some Friday evening high school football results, here is the latest with Tennessee football recruiting:
WR Ryan Wingo
Ryan Wingo was in attendance for Tennessee’s 34-27 overtime win against Pittsburgh on Saturday. The No. 1 receiver in the 2024 class is expected to be in Knoxville at the end of the month when the Vols host Florida.
The five-star receiver was extended a scholarship offer from Tennessee in March and was in Knoxville for an unofficial visit in June. Despite a bit of an off day offensively for the Vols, Wingo has understandably shown interest in Tennessee coach Josh Heupel’s high-tempo offense. Wingo caught two touchdowns Friday night for St. Louis (Mo.) University High School, despite losing 63-35.
Miami, Michigan, Oregon, Texas A&M and Notre Dame have also shown strong interest. Wingo, who is 6-foot-2 and 198 pounds, is rated the No. 6 prospect in the nation in the 2024 class and the overall top prospect in Missouri.
ATH Boo Carter
Carter, who is from Chattanooga (Tenn.) Christian School, is one of the prospects Heupel visited on Sept. 2 after Tennessee’s season-opening win against Ball State. Carter, a four-star athlete, contributed two scores in Chattanooga Christian’s 64-0 rout of Harding Academy in Memphis, Tenn., on Friday Night.
Carter ran for an eight-yard touchdown near the end of the first quarter. Early in the second quarter, Carter ran an interception back 60 yards for a touchdown.
The 5-10, 184-pound athlete received an offer from Tennessee in May of last year. Since then, Carter has made several unofficial visits to Knoxville.
Carter is a top in-state target for Heupel and his staff. He could certainly thrive in Heupel’s offense.
RB Stacy Gage
Gage, a five-star running back, shined bright on Friday night. The 5-11, 200-pound athlete ran for three touchdowns in a blowout win for Wharton High School in Tampa, Fla. Gage previously attended IMG Academy, receiving varsity snaps on the way to a national championship.
The Volunteers offered Gage a scholarship in January. However, it appears he is leaning towards Florida. Gage was in attendance for Florida’s opening night win against Utah. The recruit had some strong words to describe “The Swamp.”
“It was probably the best atmosphere I’ve been in for a college football game,” Gage told ON3.
Gage went on to describe Florida as “most definitely in my top schools.” It seems as if the Vols have some work to do in order to catch the Gators.
WR Micah Hudson
Hudson, a five-star wide receiver from Lake Belton High School in Temple, Texas, battled through injury to grab two touchdown passes Friday Night. Hudson also grabbed the game winner, leading his team to an overtime win.
Hudson was in Austin to watch Texas and Alabama Saturday. The 6-foot, 186-pound wideout received an offer from Tennessee in April.
ATH Jadan Baugh
Baugh, a five-star athlete from Columbia High School in Decatur, Ga., did it all on Friday night. Baugh registered a sack on Friday then caught a 40-yard pass on the very next play.
Baugh, who is 6-foot and 214 pounds, received a scholarship offer from Tennessee in May and was in Knoxville for a camp in June. Baugh, apparently making the Volunteers a priority, was back at the end of July for an unofficial visit.
TE Brady Prieskorn
Prieskorn, a 6-6, 215-pound tight end from Adams High School in Rochester, MI, caught a touchdown pass on in a wacky loss on Friday night.
There’s a tie to Tennessee. The four-star tight end has an older brother playing football within the state’s borders, at the University of Memphis. Prieskorn received an offer from Tennessee in February.
Prieskorn was in Ann Arbor Saturday for Michigan’s game against Hawaii. That was his fourth time on Michigan’s campus. Alabama and Arkansas have also shown interest.
