Last week was a vast improvement for picks, as I went 3-1. This week gives us some tough matchups, but there are a few that caught my attention. Some teams in the SEC are facing a lot of pressure to prove themselves and save their season, while others will reveal their weaknesses and push to make a coaching change.
Who will show up this week?
Penn State vs. Auburn
Auburn is 2.5-point dog at home against the Nittany Lions and is prime to part ways with their head coach at any moment. In a game that should’ve been a blowout, the Tigers barely scraped by San Jose State last week by 8 points. This is an Auburn team that would like to put 2022 behind them.
I’m taking Penn State -2.5
Miami vs. Texas A&M
Texas A&M was embarrassed last weekend against App State, and that embarrassment continued throughout the week as multiple videos surfaced of the “Yell Leaders” conducting a cringe-worthy pep rally. Jimbo Fisher is at a critical point in his tenure with the Aggies and needs to pull out at least a touchdown victory over the Hurricanes to keep the fanbase from calling for his head. Texas A&M’s biggest weakness this season has been their QB and with that changing, who knows how much better this offensive could be.
I’m taking Texas A&M -6.5
MS State vs LSU
There aren’t many teams that play in Death Valley at night and come out with a victory. Even though this LSU team looks like it’s falling apart, this is the game that restores the victorious feeling that Tiger fans expect. The Tigers are simply too talented to let this opportunity pass them by.
I’m taking LSU +2.5.
If you’re feeling frisky:
UGA vs. South Carolina
Georgia will come to play, but I don’t see them taking down the Gamecocks at home by 25 points. I expect Spencer Rattler to make an impact on this matchup and showcase his skills against one of the best defenses in the nation.
I’m taking South Carolina +25.
