Tennessee is rising in both the AP and Coaches’ Poll

Tennessee, as expected, has climbed up the polls and could soon be in the Top 10. That’s impressive.

The Vols are ranked No. 11 in the AP Poll and No. 12 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll.

When asked about being ranked near the Top 10, Tennessee tight end Jacob Warren couldn’t help but be excited.

“It’s huge,” the senior said on The Vol Report. “Again, does it matter? No, it doesn’t. You prefer not look at what people say, but, ah man, it’s great.”

The No. 11 ranking marks Tennessee’s highest position in the AP poll since October 9, 2016 when Tennessee cracked the top-10 at No. 9. It also marks the highest position a Josh Heupel-coached team has held since the final poll of the 2018 season when the Central Florida held the No. 11 spot under Heupel.

For Warren, the Vols still haven’t done anything he didn’t expect. The Vols are 3-0 after a 63-6 throttling of Akron on Saturday.

“It’s kind of cool to realize that there’s nothing that we’ve done special,” Warren said. “We’ve beaten three teams, three teams that we probably should have beat. You have to go into it with a clear mind and not get too big headed and just continue to show why you’re there is the biggest thing.

“You’re there for a reason and people are starting to recognize the hype around the program. Give them a reason to keep ranking you up there. Go beat a ranked team. Go really play well against these SEC teams and show them why you should be up there.”
