Injuries are a tough but an unfortunate part of the game of football, and if you have a long enough career, you’ll end up with at least a couple. No one is immune; not even if you’re a highly sought-after recruit heading into your senior year.
On Tuesday, Tennessee commitment Ethan Davis announced that he’s began rehab for a torn labrum.
The four-star tight end posted the news about the injury on Aug. 19, stating that he would have to forgo his senior season.
The good news for Vol fans is that Davis was spotted in Knoxville on Saturday for the Volunteers historic victory versus Florida. Although he was wearing an arm sling on his right side, he was thrilled to be in attendance.
Davis plays both football and basketball at Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, GA, where he holds the record for most points scored in a single basketball game with 43. In his junior season, the tight end tallied 755 yards on 61 catches, scoring eight touchdowns. He helped lead Collins Hill to a state championship.
Tennessee fans have no reason to worry.
A torn labrum is not uncommon in the world of football. Notable players in the NFL, such as Dalvin Cook and Baker Mayfield, have suffered similar tears. With proper care and rehabilitation, most players make a full recovery.
