Top Recruit Talks Losing Sleep to Visit Tennessee: “It was worth it”.

The Vols are looking to pick up a big prospect.

Literally.

At 6-foot-7.5 and 330-pounds, four-star offensive tackle Fletcher Westphal received a scholarship offer from Tennessee in May. The Volunteers have only two offensive linemen committed in their 2023 class, so they’re looking to add more depth in the class of 2024.

Westphal visited Knoxville to watch Tennessee’s victory against Florida and was thoroughly impressed with his experience on Rocky Top.

“Aside from great football, it was nice to experience all the game-day traditions,” Westphal told Rivals247. “At the end of the game, the team went to [sic] student section and everyone sang the school song together. Seeing the football players in the stands singing that song was special. You don’t see or feel this on TV. I had a game Friday night, got three hours of sleep and drove 7 hours to attend, it was worth it.”

Westphal took to social media following his visit, calling Neyland Stadium “electric” and posing with one of Tennessee’s top recruits in the class of 2023, Nico Iamaleava.

Westphal plays both sides of the ball for Tuscarora High School in Leesburg, VA. The four-star prospect is dominant in both pass protection and run blocking on the offensive line.

Westphal has been hot on the recruiting trail this season, taking visits to Auburn, Atlanta for the matchup between Georgia and Oregon, and Clemson this past weekend. Heuepl has his work cut out for him but if he can land Westphal, that’ll be a big checkmark on the list of recruits needed to take this Tennessee team to the next level.
