One of the last big names left on the board for the class of 2023 is getting closer to a decision, and it seems to be between two schools.
Tennessee and Clemson are thought to be the last programs in the running for Tommarion “TJ” Parker’s commitment.
Scot Wiltfrong of Rivals247 gave Parker a “crystal ball,” predicting he will commit to Clemson.
The Tigers offered the four-star prospect soon after his decommitment from Penn State in August. Parker visited Clemson in September and is expected to make two additional visits: one on Oct. 22 for their matchup with Syracuse and one in November when the Tigers host Miami.
Don’t count Tennessee out just yet. Parker received an offer from the Vols in January of 2021 and maintained contact with Josh Heupel and the coaching staff throughout his recruitment process.
Parker visited Knoxville in the offseason, and is expected to be back on campus when Tennessee hosts Alabama on Oct. 15. Early signing day is fast approaching. If Tennessee is going to replace Clemson at the top of the recruit’s list, they’ll have to do it while playing the number one team in the nation.
Parker attends Phenix City High School in Phenix City, AL. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound prospect is likely to project as an edge rusher in college and ranks as the No. 96 prospect in the class of 2023.
Parker also plays on the offensive side of the ball for Phenix City High School.
Against powerhouse IMG Academy, Parker had five tackles, one-and-a-half for loss, plus 90 receiving yards and a touchdown. He had several quarterback pressures on the night, competing against five-star offensive lineman and Miami commitment Francis Mauiagoa.
