Tennessee is hosting one of the biggest names in the class of 2023 on Saturday.

Four-star prospect Carnell Tate is expected to attend Tennessee’s matchup with Alabama, per ON3. This is a huge development in Tate’s recruitment process.

Tennessee will be the only school, other than Ohio State, that Tate has visited since committing to the Buckeyes in June.

Tate was last in Knoxville in the spring, visiting campus with five-star Tennessee commitment Nico Iamaleava. Tennessee, and Iamaleava, have never stopped recruiting Tate to join the Volunteers.

Tennessee twitter blew up following the news Tate was expected to be on campus this weekend. This isn’t the first time rumors have surrounded Tate’s Ohio State commitment.

Tate posted a picture on Twitter in a Tennessee uniform, wishing happy birthday to the Volunteers director of recruiting in August.

Following this post, Tennessee fans went crazy on social media, wondering if a flip in commitment was imminent.

Although Tate seems to be fully committed to Ohio State, I wouldn’t count him out just yet. By visiting Tennessee this weekend, the 6-foot-2 and 185-pound wide receiver is reciprocating the interest the Volunteers are giving him. On top of this, Tate’s relationship with Iamaleava is another reason we may see a flip.

Additionally, Josh Heupel’s explosive, spread offense is a wide receiver’s dream. Tennessee leads the FBS in total offense in 2022, and has spread the workload among many receivers.

Tate attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. The four-star prospect is someone to keep an eye out for as we approach Early Signing Day in December.
