By The Numbers: Tennessee’s upcoming matchup with Georgia is incredibly unusual

Tennessee and Georgia will play on Saturday as the No. 2 and No. 1 teams in the nation, respectively. That’s a rare occurrence in college football during the regular season. In fact, it has only happened five times.

The Vols are tied with Ohio State for the No. 2 spot according to the Associated Press Poll, which was released on Sunday afternoon. The Vols are ranked No. 3 in the Coaches’ Poll. Georgia is No. 1 in both polls
