While Josh Heupel and the Volunteers are preparing to face off with Clemson in the Orange Bowl, three class of 2024 prospects announced Tennessee football as one of their top schools.

Tennessee signed everyone in its 2023 class during the Early Signing Period, freeing up the Vols’ coaching staff to look ahead at the class of 2024. Here’s a look at the three prospects who put Tennessee among their top schools on Tuesday.

ATH Boo Carter

The four-star prospect put Tennessee among his top five schools, among Colorado, Oregon, Ohio State, and Michigan.

Carter has been among one of Tennessee’s top targets for the 2024 class. The athlete could play on both sides of the ball in college, being a defensive back and wide receiver.

In addition to Carter’s on-field play, picking up the No. 268 player in the 2024 class would show that Heupel and his staff can recruit in state. Carter ranks as the No. 5 prospect in Tennessee and attends Brainerd High School in Chattanooga. Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports projected Carter would commit to the Vols.

Carter is expected to attend one of Tennessee’s junior days in the spring, likely in January.

ATH Jacob Oden

Oden included Tennessee football as the only SEC school in his top five schools. Oden also had Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, and Iowa.

Oden, a four-star prospect from Harper Woods, Michigan, has visited Michigan almost 10 times during his recruitment. He ranks as the No. 5 prospect from Michigan.

The Vols have their work cut out for them to get Oden out of the Big Ten. The athlete, who can play at defensive back, has become super close to Tim Banks. Bank, a Detroit native, played his college football at Central Michigan.

The Vols still have a long way to go to land the 6-foot-1 188-pound athlete.

LB Jeremiah Beasley

Beasley announced his top five on Tuesday, including Tennessee football among Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Michigan, and Michigan State.

Beasley ranks as the No. 6 prospect from Michigan. He hasn’t visited Kentucky or Tennessee and seems to be leaning toward Michigan State.

At 6-1 and 210, Beasley will try to get to Knoxville in the spring.
