Josh Heupel has had success recruiting out of Bradley Central High School in Cleveland, Tennessee. One of the Vols most recent commitments, Marcus Goree Jr., hails from Bradley Central.
Now, it seems Tennessee is targeting another prospect out of Cleveland. The Vols hosted 2025 prospect J’Alan Terry over the weekend for a visit. Tennessee football’s commitment to the “Vol for Life” mantra stood out for Terry instantly.
“It showed us how they want to push us to be better men after football,” Terry told Off The Hook Sports.

Terry also got the opportunity to sit with the Vols’ coaching staff and watch film.
“They were just showing us clips and stuff,” Terry said. “Me and coach Heupel, we talked for a little bit. We talked about how this summer was going to go for me.”
Heupel also took a trip down to Cleveland to visit Bradley Central. To meet with Terry as well as the recently committed Goree. Heupel continued to make Terry and his family feel welcome over the weekend.
“When coach Heupel pulled my family aside and he was just happy to see us there,” Terry said, calling it the best part of his visit. “Really, when he was talking to my mom, it seems like he really wants me there.”
Although he was able to sit down with Heupel and watch film, the athlete has built a very close relationship with wide receiver coach Kelsey Pope.
“Me and coach Pope, we can always build off of our relationship because we’re pretty close,” Terry said. “So every time we see each other we just build off our relationship.”
Being an in-state prospect, Terry didn’t grow up a Tennessee fan, but his family did. He said his family was always telling him about the Vols.
Terry has been in contact with several power-five schools, including Kentucky, Ole Miss, Michigan State and Michigan as well as Tennessee. After his visit, he said Tennessee was among his top five “for sure.”
Terry enjoyed his weekend in Knoxville and plans to return during the spring and summer.
“Coming out of the tunnel where they run out of the T, that was pretty dope,” Terry said highlighting one of his favorite parts.
Terry loved the opportunity to become part of the special group that includes guys like Peyton Manning.
“They have their own little section,” he said. “Really just kind of come back and chill, get a little workout in. Even for the guys who don’t make it to the NFL, they come back and teach how to be a better man. I think that’s nice.”
Listed as an athlete, Tennessee wants to utilize Terry on the offensive side of the ball. Whether it be running back or wide receiver, he doesn’t care.
“At my school, they play me at running back and receiver,” Terry said. “So, coach Pope would love to have me at wideout. I just like to fly around, wherever it helps the team.”
