One of the top targets in the 2024 class for Tennessee football has set his commitment date. Athlete Boo Carter will announce his commitment on June 17 at 8 p.m. Eastern time at the 40/40 Club in New York City.
Carter posted a graphic on social media to announce his commitment date. The graphic features the logos of his top schools Ohio State, Colorado, Michigan, Oregon and Tennessee.
Carter, a prospect out of in-state Brainerd High School, was recently in Knoxville for Tennessee’s “865 Live” weekend. Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports gave a crystal ball projection for Carter, predicting he will end up in the Orange and White. Carter also sits as the No. 290 prospect in the country and the No. 34 athlete in his class according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
Carter begins his official visits this month, with the first coming from Michigan.
Before transferring to Brainerd High School near the end of the football season, Carter was at Chattanooga Christian School. He had 678 yards and 18 TDs on the ground, and he had 36 receptions for 780 yards and 10 TDs through the air for CCS.
The 5-foot-10 and 184-pound athlete has consistently visited Tennessee. The Vols were the first to offer the four-star prospect in May 2021. He was on campus for the Alabama and Florida games in the fall and also traveling to Knoxville for the first junior day of the year.
Carter likely projects as a defensive back for the Vols. He will seemingly take an official visit to Tennessee, but he has not locked in a date for that yet.
The 2024 class for Tennessee is currently comprised of four-star quarterback Jake Merklinger, four-star athlete Johnathan Echols, four-star JJ Harrell, four-star cornerback Kaleb Beasley, four-star Peyton Lewis four-star Marcus Goree Jr. and three-star defensive linemen Carson Gentle and Jeremais Heard along with three-star offensive linemen Gage Ginther and Jesse Perry.
The momentum is picking up for Josh Heupel and his group heading into the summer.
