UT winning its baseball Super Regional while an NBA Finals champion was crowned made for a big Monday night of sports, and both make their way into Off The Hook Sports’ Tuesday, June 13 podcast. Caleb Calhoun and Dave Hooker also discuss Tennessee Football, Deion Sanders and overrated college football head coaches.

Tennessee Baseball reaches College World Series

After several rain delays, Tennessee Baseball was finally able to play Game 3 of its NCAA Super Regional series at the Southern Miss Golden Eagles late Monday night. The first pitch was after 10 p.m. ET, and the Vols pulled off a 5-0 shutout despite one less hit to advance to the College World Series. Is this UT’s best athletics year ever?

Two Tennessee Football freshmen on top 100 list

A list of the 100 true freshmen who will have an impact in 2023 by Chris Hummer of 247Sports included Tennessee Football quarterback Nico Iamaleava and linebacker Arion Carter. Should the Vols have had any other players on that list? What about at defensive back, where they clearly need the most help?

Deion Sanders slams NIL collectives

In a recent interview with Joel Klatt, Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders said he supports name, image and likeness but has an issue with collectives because they reach out to players who haven’t proven anything. Given the hype he’s gotten as a head coach while proving very little, is that hypocritical?

Who is the most overrated College Football head coach?

Speaking of Sanders, does he belong on the list of most overrated FBS head coaches heading into the 2023 season? Would some people dare put Tennessee Football head coach Josh Heupel on there? What about Mario Cristobal of the Miami Hurricanes or Steve Sarkisian of the Texas Longhorns?

The Tennessee Football, Basketball versions of Nikola Jokic

With a 94-89 victory over the Miami Heat, the Denver Nuggets won their first NBA Finals Championship, winning the series 4-1. Nikola Jokic, who was taken with the 41st pick in the second round of the 2015 NBA Draft, was named Finals MVP after winning back to back regular season MVPs in 2021 and 2022. Who is the Vols’ version of Jokic, an unlikely superstar?
