Tennessee football continues its momentum on the recruiting trail, picking up a commitment from four-star linebacker Jordan Burns. The Atlanta area linebacker was on campus this past weekend for his official visit with the Vols.
The 6-foot-1 and 215-pound linebacker chose Tennessee over Arkansas and Vanderbilt.
“I just loved the staff and the coaches along with Tennessee being my dream school,” Burns told On3. “They are just real people and great people there.”
Burns ranks as the No. 389 prospect nationally according to 247Sports Composite. He also ranks as the No. 34 linebacker and the No. 47 prospect from Gerogia.
Burns, out of Pace Academy in Georgia, provides a boost to Tennessee’s defensive class. He will like specialize as an edge rusher in the Vols’ aggressive defense.
The four-star prospect received an offer from Tennessee in the fall, and has visited the Vols three times in 2023.
Burns joins a top-15 class that Josh Heupel and his staff are working on. He is the first prospect to commit following the first big recruiting weekend of the year.
Burns joins four-star prospect Boo Carter out of Bradley Central High School in Cleveland, Tennessee as the second prospect to commit to Tennessee in three days. Burns came away from his official visit impressed with Tennessee, compared to his other top contenders in Arkansas and Vanderbilt.
He visited Tennessee five times over eight months, and enjoyed campus.
The 2024 class for the Vols is currently comprised of four-star quarterback Jake Merklinger, four-star athlete Johnathan Echols, four-star cornerback Kaleb Beasley, four-star Peyton Lewis, four-star defensive lineman Kellen Lindstrom, four-star athlete Marcus Goree Jr. and three-star defensive linemen Carson Gentle and Jeremais Heard along with three-star offensive linemen Gage Ginther and Jesse Perry and three-star safety Edress Farooq.
