NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Day two of SEC Media Days has arrived in Nashville. Vanderbilt, Georgia, Auburn and Mississippi State will be represented on Tuesday.
Vanderbilt and Georgia are obviously of concern to Tennessee fans as both will be headed to Neyland Stadium in 2023.

Vanderbilt Head Coach Clark Lea
- “We’re playing the long game at Vanderbilt.”
- Vandy HC Clark Lea preaches setting the foundation at Vanderbilt. Also boasts the construction going on at Vanderbilt.
- Vanderbilt’s blitz rate went up to 28% this past season.
- “What we want to do is shorten the down with a four-man rush. We want to create pressure and disrupt the QB with our front four. “In the end, it’s about shortening the down.”
Georgia Head Coach Kirby Smart
- Kirby Smart talks about battling complacency after winning two championships.
- “That’s not what we do at Georgia… We want selfless people who love football.”
- He said the Bulldogs have studied the New Zealand Black Rugby Team to avoid complacency.
Mississippi State Head Coach Zach Arnett
- SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey points out that Mississippi State head coach Zach Arnett is the first Hispanic coach in the SEC, the youngest coach in the SEC and the only undefeated coach in the SEC.
- Arnett references the opening statement’s word count. Mike Leach had 7 words, Arnett had a lot more.
- “You talk about whether my name was rumored for other jobs or not or whether I was in the mix. I had as good a situation — I had a better situation in terms of being a defensive coordinator here at Mississippi State than anywhere in the country. I was happy here. Me and my family love it in Starkville.”
