The second week of fall camp is underway, and it comes on the heels of the most dramatic conference realignment in history. Caleb Calhoun touches on that along with Tennessee Football continuing its practices while also looking at the history of the Vols at linebacker and the drop in production they are suffering this year.

Pac-12 implodes, loses teams to Big 12, Big Ten

Just as Friday’s show ended, conference realignment dramatically altered the landscape of college football. The Pac-12 lost the Utah Utes, Arizona Wildcats and Arizona State Sun Devils to the Big 12 and the Oregon Ducks and Washington Huskies to the Big Ten. They lost the Colorado Buffaloes to the Big 12 earlier in the week, and the USC Trojans and UCLA Bruins will also join B1G next year.

PFF top 50 excludes Tennessee Football

No Tennessee Football players were able to make their way into the Pro Football Focus list of top 50 college football players for 2023. Also, The Action Network tracks the Vols’ drop in production and shows that UT has lost more production from 2022 than any other team in the SEC. How much of a concern is this for Rocky Top going forward?

Chad Johnson, Randy Moss praise former Vols wide receivers

Former NFL wide receivers Randy Moss and Chad Johnson are extremely high on Cleveland Browns rookie Cedric Tillman. Both lambasted NFL general managers for overlooking him. Johnson, meanwhile, is also high on Jalin Hyatt. Is the departure of both receivers part a reason for the Vols to be worried about how good they will be in 2023?

Greatest years ever by Tennessee Football LBs

What are the 10 greatest single seasons ever by Tennessee Football linebackers? The Vols have produced lots of elite talent at that position ever since it became an official position back in the Doug Dickey era of the 1960s. Who had the best year in UT history for a linebacker, and which players at that position were among the most transformative?

  1. What about Greg “Haysi ” Jones that played on the National Championship High School Team of Bristol Tennessee High School. They won back to back State AAA Football Championships in 1971, and 1972. But Greg Jones for many years in the University of Tennessee Football record book, held many single game tackle records or assist. As well he was # 2 or 3 on career tackles for many years, in my opinion he’s one of the GREATEST LINE BACKERS that ever played for the Volunteers. He played around the same time as Andy Spiva and Craig Puki, I know Greg Jones was awarded the Chevrolet player of the game twice on Nationally Televised SEC games of the week. Possibly against Auburn and Alabama but I’m not really sure the exact games. I know for a fact that once while listening to a University of Tennessee Football game, John Ward commented on one of #53 Greg Jones hit and tackle. That the hit was the Loudest and Hardest hit ever heard in Neyland Stadium ! I consider that and Honor in its own, coming from The Voice of the Volunteers.
