One of the last remaining targets in the 2024 class for Tennessee football announced his top school on Wednesday. Four-star running back Daniel Hill included the Vols in his top schools.
Alabama and South Carolina also made the top schools for Hill.
Hill ranks as the No. 191 prospect nationally and the No. 14 athlete. Out of Meridian High School in Meridian, Mississippi, Hill is the No. 5 prospect in the state.
He recently took an official visit to Tennessee for its matchup with South Carolina. All of his top schools have hosted him for an official visit.
“Tennessee had made a strong push recently and I can really respect them for that,” Hill told On3. “The offense fits my skills perfectly and I couldn’t ask for anything better than that. Not only that, the game day atmosphere is pretty nice.”
The Vols are in good standing with Hill after the official visit, but there is stiff competition for the running back.
A surprise snub from his top schools was Mississippi State. His father played for in-state Mississippi State.
There have been several crystal balls logged for Hill on 247Sports, pointing him to either South Carolina or Alabama.
The Vols want Hill to complement fellow four-star Peyton Lewis in the 2024 class of running backs. Cooper Petagna gave a scouting report for Hill.
“Displays good athleticism at multiple positions on offense including running back and tight end,” Petagna writes.
“Multi-dimensional athlete with a position versatile skill set that can project in a variety of ways depending on offensive scheme. Exhibits suddenness as a running back and route runner when flexed out as a receiver. Demonstrates above average play speed and separation quickness in the open field but lacks long speed to outrun defenders. Shows willingness and physicality as a blocker on the perimeter. Flashes good play strength and the ability to play through contact between the tackles. Appears to possess natural pass catching ability, plus possesses some above average run after catch ability. Flashes some downfield playmaking ability in the passing game.
“Position versatile piece with a tweener frame that can be deployed in a variety of ways on offense. More than likely projects to the H-back position at the next level with the ability to attach and detach from the line of scrimmage. Jumbo athlete with a unique offensive skill set. Has the ability to see the field early at the next level because of position versatility while projecting as a Power Five multi-year starter at the next level.”
