Tennessee football has landed another commitment in the 2025 class, this time from an offensive player. Buford (Ga.) High School running back Justin Baker announced he was committing to the Vols on Wednesday evening.
Baker ranks as the No. 372 prospect nationally in the 2025 class, and the No. 35 running back by 247Sports Composite. He is also the No. 42 prospect from Georgia.
Baker’s announcement comes off two visits to Tennessee last month. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound chose Tennessee over South Carolina, Michigan and Alabama among others. He holds 20 scholarship offers.
His top schools in July included the Vos, along with South Carolina, Michigan, Georgia NCState and Ole Miss. Baker made his first trip to Knoxville in June, and he had visited four total times.
At Buford, he ran the ball 62 times for 371 yards and 3 touchdowns last season. He played behind Alabama signee Justice Haynes. He also got a pick and a couple of tackles on the defensive side of the ball.
Baker joins Milton (Ga.) High School defensive backs Sharmar Arnoux and Dylan Lewis as 2025 commitments for the Vols. As for running backs, the 2024 class features four-star Peyton Lewis.
“They’re good people,” Baker told 247Sports. “They’re, like, players’ coaches. Coach Mack and Coach Walter, I feel like they’re real connected with their players — and not just (from) a football standpoint, but, also, they work with guys on life after football, whether their pursuit is the NFL or is not with the NFL and getting a higher degree and going off into life.”
Baker is just another prospect to choose the Vols from the state of Georgia. Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel and his staff have made forming relationships in the Peach State a priority, and it is paying off.
All three of Tennessee’s 2025 commitments hail from Georgia, and two come from the same school. The current 2024 class features four prospects out of Georgia. The 2023 class had seven prospects out of Georgia.
