Tennessee football has picked up another transfer portal commitment. The Vols landed defensive back Jermod McCoy out of the transfer portal. McCoy comes from Oregon State.
In his freshman season, McCoy picked up 31 total tackles, two interceptions and a fumble recovery in 2023. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

In the transfer portal, McCoy is a three-star prospect and ranks as the No. 8 cornerback. He also ranks as the No. 79 overall prospect in the portal. Out of high school, he was a three-star prospect. He ranked as the No. 1455 overall prospect by 247Sports Composite, and he ranked as the No. 126 cornerback in the 2023 class.
The 5-foot-11 and 170-pound defensive back was a wide receiver out of high school, hailing from Whitehouse High School Whitehouse, Texas.
McCoy helps fill a position of need for Tennessee. McCoy is the second defensive player to commit to the Vols, and just the third player overall. Currently, Tennessee has six defensive backs in the transfer portal. There have also been several others who Josh Heupel and his staff are after in the portal.

McCoy joins Jakobe Thomas as defensive backs to join the Vols out of the portal. Thomas joined Tennessee from MTSU.
Thomas finished with 71 tackles, which ranked second on the team for the Blue Raiders. He also picked up three tackles for loss, five pass breakups, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a blocked kick whole starting 10 games this season. He totaled 108 tackles and four tackles for loss over the past two seasons at MTSU.
In the portal, Thomas is the No. 115 prospect overall and a three-star by 247Sports. He has two seasons of eligibility, and he redshirted his freshman year at MTSU.
Tennessee has also landed Holden States from Notre Dame. The tight end also fills a void for Tennessee.
