The Vols have already landed an elite wide receiver from the transfer portal in Tulane wide receiver Chris Brazzell II. Brazzell tallied 711 yards and five touchdowns as a freshman for Tulane. At 6-foot-5 and 195 pounds, he gives highly-touted quarterback Nico Iamaleava a large target to hit.

Receiver is a clear need for Josh Heupel and the Vols in the portal.

Wide receiver was a position of priority for Tennessee in the portal. The Vols lose Ramel Keyton who is out of eligibility. Bru McCoy’s future is up in the air with the Vols.

Last year, Tennessee landed Dont’e Thornton Jr. from Oregon in the transfer portal. He was also a lengthy receiver target, but he did not pan out until later in the year. After suffering an injury, Tennessee’s depth was tested in the portal.

The 2024 class also brings in five-star Mike Matthews and four-star Braylon Staley. Both are highly touted incoming-freshman that are expected to make an early impact for the Vols next season.
