Tennessee may have the top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. However, James Pearce is just part of the story.
The EDGE rusher from Charlotte, who Pro Football Focus recently predicted as the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft, is expected to be one of the elite players in the nation this fall.
Where will the other Vols fall? Based on conversations with scouts, coaches and analysts, here is a way-too-early look at there the Vols could get drafted next spring. Let’s just go ahead and clarify: Pearce will go in the first round.
WR Bru McCoy
Going into last season, McCoy was the most coveted Vol, per one NFL scout. That has since changed since Pearce’s ascension and McCoy’s leg injury suffered last season. If 100-percent healthy, McCoy should be a late first round or early second round pick.
C Cooper Mays
Mays’s absence in a loss against Florida last season was proof how bad Tennessee’s offense needed their center in place to play at a high level. Mays, per sources, looks like a third round pick
DL Omari Thomas
Thomas figures to be a big part of the Vols’ plans this season. He’s also likely to be a factor in the third or fourth round of the draft next season.
OL John Campbell Jr.
Campbell could likely see his draft stock jump, as has been the case with former Tennessee offensive lineman Darnell Wright, who also made the move from left to right tackle. That worked.
