Tennessee basketball coach Rick Barnes isn’t very good at keeping a secret. Therefore, we all now know that the Vols’ will be wearing black at some point this season when they hit the hardwood.
“I will tell you this,” Barnes said, when asked about wearing a dark jersey during a WNML radio appearance, “We have designed one in the offseason. Because one, Nike wants us to do that. Obviously, our brand is popular and I know people like (black uniforms). I wear black most every day.”
It amazes me how much the concept of the black uniform idea has morphed over the past decade-plus. Back in 2009, Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin tried his best to keep the Vols’ black uniforms under wraps until the Vols suddenly unveiled them during pregame of the South Carolina matchup. Now, they’re embraced.
Are you all on board with the black unis? Has black joined orange and white as a school color? We’ll discuss on The Dave Hooker Show on YouTube LIVE right HERE
