Welcome to Neyland Stadium and today’s game between the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Moccasins and YOUR University of Tennessee Volunteers! Please pay these prices and pay no more!! It’s Football Time in Tennessee!!
GameWeek 1 has finally arrived, the Vols will make their first run through the T this Saturday in an early afternoon game against the little cousin from 90 miles away down I-75. Vol fans get their first look at the team that Josh Heupel calls his most talented so far at Tennessee.
They get their first look at 5-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava in his first home game start. They get their first look at 2023 freshman All-American wide receiver transfer Chris Brazzell II. They get their first look at the freshman defender that grabbed fall camp headline after headline, Boo Carter.
They get to enjoy the player many pundits say is the top player in college football with edge rusher James Pearce Jr. And the list goes on and on about what Tennessee fans will enjoy while watching during the debut of the 2024 Tennessee Volunteers.
It has been an amazing summer for Tennessee sports fans from riding the high of the Vols winning the national championship in baseball to an endless stream of commitments from elite football recruits to 32 Tennessee athletes competing in the Olympics.
And now this week the 2024-25 Tennessee sports calendar begins in earnest with the Vols taking the field to launch what will hopefully be a successful season that lands Tennessee in its’ first appearance in the College Football Playoffs.
There is a whole lot of football to be played and the addition of Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC has made the challenge of reaching the CFP even tougher for the Vols. But Heupel and staff have put Tennessee in the mix to be a contender and there’s no better time than the now to take that next step as a program.
So 58 years ago, a young 10-year old Tennessee fan made their first trip to Neyland Stadium to watch the Vols. That 1966 team was led by Vol legends Dewey Warren, Richmond Flowers, Austin Denney, Paul Naumoff and many more. That game was against the University of Chattanooga before their evolution to today’s University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. This year, that 10-year old Vol fan, AKA Papa Mac, will take his 4-year old grandson, Cohen, to his first Tennessee GameDay at Neyland Stadium to see the same two schools. More on that GameDay adventure next week.
