Tennessee fell in both the AP and Coaches’ Poll, as expected following the Vols loss to Arkansas on Saturday night.
Previously ranked No. 4 in the nation, Tennessee fell to No. 9 in the Coaches Poll and No. 8 in the AP Poll. Tennessee is the fifth highest rated SEC team in the Coaches Poll and the fourth highest rated SEC team in the AP Poll. The debate between the two polls comes down to what voters think about Ole Miss and the Vols. The Rebels are rated No. 8 in the Coaches Poll and No. 9 in the AP Poll, flip-flopped with Tennessee in each poll
The Vols are ranked behind Alabama in both polls. The Crimson Tide was beaten by Vanderbilt on Saturday in a 40-35 thriller in Nashville. Tennessee lost 19-14 at Arkansas on Saturday night.
Ole Miss lost to Kentucky last week 20-17 in Oxford, Miss. Georgia is ranked No. 4 in the Coaches Poll and No. 5 in the AP Poll. The Bulldogs lost to Bama last week 41-34. The Crimson Tide is rated No. 7 in both polls.
Texas is ranked No. 1 in both polls and is the only SEC team that is still undefeated. All teams are still considered to have good odds to make the 12-team College Football Playoff. Each team likely controls their own destiny if they were to win the remaining games on their respective schedules.
The Vols will try to regroup this week as they prepare for Florida on Saturday in Neyland Stadium. Tennessee is currently a 17-point favorite to beat the Gators.
