1. Big plays on defense set up Tennessee Football scores

To be fair to the Tennessee Football missed opportunities, the Vols made up with it behind big plays on defense of their own. In the first half, they stopped Kentucky on a fourth down in the red zone on the opening drive of the game, and Andre Turrentine later came away with an interception.

However, the second half is where the Vols really took off. it started after the offense missed a field goal to fail to score on its third trip to the red zone after the opening drive of the second half. Trailing 10-7, the Vols just gave off the vibe that they were about to let one slip away. That’s when Joshua Josephs came away with a crucial strip sack that Jeremiah Telander recovered.

With that newfound momentum, Rocky Top marched down the field and scored on a Dylan Sampson touchdown run, which managed to put the up for good. Two drives later, UK looked dangerous with Gavin Wimsatt at quarterback, as he wad driving. Will Brooks then picked him off and ran it the other way to set up a Nico Iamaleava touchdown pass.

Those two defensive turnovers set up the Vols’ two touchdowns to put them up 21-10, and those would be all the points they needed to hold on for the win, even if they tacked on another touchdown for insurance. The defense stepped up for Tennessee Football once again to deliver a big win.
