Another sloppy game for Tennessee Football, once again off a bye week, falls on a lot of units that didn’t show up to make sure the Vols had a comfortable win Saturday night over the Kentucky Wildcats. They’re going to get called out for not doing their part, even though the Vols themselves were able to make sure they came out on top.

As we get set to break down the performance of all the different position groups for UT in Saturday’s 28-18 win over Kentucky, there were certainly some that deserve praise for carrying this team to victory while others had a bad night. Some of those standout units were shockers given what they had done this season before the game.

If Tennessee Football could put it all together, the Vols would look like a national championship contending team. However, at this point, if one unit steps up after struggling, a unit that had been playing well falls off. That’s exactly what happened between the Vols and the Wildcats at Neyland Stadium. Who did step up, though? Check that out here with our report card for UT.

Here are the Tennessee Football grades from the Volunteers’ ugly victory over the Wildcats at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn., Saturday night.

Offensive grades Part I

Quarterback: A

Nico Iamaleava finished the game 28-of-38 for 292 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions while rushing for another 14 yards. He also had three clear touchdown passes that all ended up being dropped, which would have resulted in him ending up with north of 350 yards and four touchdowns through the air.

Running backs: A-

If not for Dylan Sampson’s fumble, this group would get an A+. Peyton Lewis was superb when he came in for Sampson, rushing for 24 yards and a touchdown, and Sampson himself had 27 carries for 142 yards and two touchdowns. He had a nine-yard reception as well. DeSean Bishop had a six-yard carry before getting hurt, but overall, this unit was elite.
