Offensive grades Part II

Tight ends: A-

Miles Kitselman’s drop in the end zone, which may or may not have been his fault, is the only reason this isn’t an A+. Kitselman had six catches for 97 yards and a touchdown, really taking advantage of Kentucky’s Cover-4 and three-man rush. Holden Staes added three catches for 27 yards, so this was the strength of the Tennessee Football offense.

Wide receivers: D+

They are supposed to be the strength of the Vols’ offense, but outside of Bru McCoy, this unit was awful. Chris Brazzell II dropped a perfect touchdown pass by Iamaleava down the sideline, and Chas Nimrod dropped a perfect pass over the middle he would have run in for a score. That plus bad blocking on screen passes by receivers is another reason this unit gets an awful grade. McCoy keeps it from failing.

Offensive line: B

John Campbell Jr. had a holding penalty early, and Lance Heard did miss one block. The unit did surrender two sacks. However, it was good enough for Iamaleava to make plenty of plays through the air, and the run game was what it always is, so for the first time in a while, the line’s play warrants an A-grade. It’s getting better each week.
