Caden Harris may not have all the scholarship offers he wants just yet. That’s simply a matter of time.
Harris, a four-star cornerback from Brownsville, Tenn., welcomed coach Josh Heupel to Haywood High School when the Tennessee coach dropped in earlier this week.
Tennessee has offered Harris a scholarship, along with Alabama, Georgia and Ole Miss. The Bulldogs are the biggest concern for the Vols per sources close to his recruitment. It’s certainly worth noting that Harris has his Georgia scholarship offer announcement pinned to his X profile.
What is so appealing about Harris? Well, his size is at the top of the list.
Harris is already 6-feet tall and should only get bigger. He is currently 160 pounds but has over a year to add some mass before he enrolls in college. Harris is rated as the No. 185 overall prospect in the 2026 class. He is ranked as the 14th best cornerback prospect in the nation and the seventh-best prospect in Tennessee.
The Vols should certainly be more successful when it comes to recruiting defensive backs than they have been previously. There were times in which Tennessee’s defensive backs looked bereft of coaching in Heupel’s first three seasons at Tennessee. Then, things came together last year as the Vols had one of the better defensive backfields in the SEC.
Harris’ recruitment started to heat up last summer when Georgia jumped on board. Duke is thought to be the first school to offer Harris a scholarship, which happened in July. Notre Dame followed suit shortly thereafter, followed by West Virginia and Illinois, which offered Harris a scholarship in August and November, respectively.
Harris took an unofficial visit to Tennessee in October, so there’s certainly interest there. That was evident by Heupel dropping in. The next step in Harris’ recruitment? Unofficial visits. Harris is expected to visit Knoxville this spring or summer. That’s when the Vols will try to wrap up his recruitment with a UT commitment.
