Tennessee is setting its sights to the future.
Jonathan Echols, the No. 30 ranked player in the 2024 class and a long time Tennessee target, committed to the Vols on Independence Day. Echols represents the Vols’ first commitment of the 2024 cycle.
The five-star edge rusher is considered to be the No. 4 athlete in the class and the No. 9 prospect from the talent rich state of Florida. Echols unofficially visited Tennessee on June 24 and holds offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame among others.
Echols stands at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds and hails from IMG Academy, a school that has become a major recruiting destination for Tennessee in past years, with lesser degrees of success. The Vols recently offered IMG receiver Devin Hyatt and were finalists for now-Ohio State bound Carnell Tate.
Tennessee has been on quite the run in the past couple of days on the recruiting trail. The Vols also recently secured commitments from three-star defensive back John Slaughter, three-star defensive lineman Tyree Weathersby and four-star corner Cristian Conyer.
