EDGE rusher Danny Okoye, a Tennessee football target, committed to Oklahoma on Wednesday night.

Okoye, out of NOAH Homeschool in Tulsa, Oklahoma, ranks as the No. 149 prospect nationally. He’s the No. 10 EDGE rusher in his class and the No. 1 prospect from Oklahoma.

With Okoye committed elsewhere, Tennessee may be done recruiting true-edge rushers. The Vols are after one defensive lineman though, Nasir Smith.

Smith, a three-star prospect, ranks as the No. 753 prospect in the nation and the No. 75 defensive lineman in his class. Out of Grayson (Ga.) High School, Smith holds over 25 scholarship offers.

Tennessee hopes to get Smith on campus this fall to add more depth to the defensive line.

With that being said, here’s a look at the current Vol commitments on the defensive line.

Five-star EDGE Jordan Ross

Ross is the top prospect in the Vols 2024 class according to 247Sports Composite. He ranks as the No. 29 prospect nationally, the No. 4 edge rusher and the No. 4 prospect from Alabama. He attends Vestavia Hills High School.

The 6-foot-4.5 and 233-pound edge rusher committed to Tennessee on Aug. 21. He chose the Vols over Georgia, Florida and Texas.

Ross was a big pick up for Tennessee, and it plays even bigger now with the loss of Okoye on the trail.

Four-star DL Kellen Lindstrom

Lindstrom committed to Tennessee in May and took his official visit in June. He ranks as the No. 321 prospect nationally, the No. 36 defensive lineman and the No. 7 prospect out of Missouri.

The 6-foot-5 and 235-pound lineman chose the Vols over his 27 other scholarship offers. He finished his junior season with 73 tackles with six coming for a loss and one sack.

Lindstrom offers a big frame to grow into while maintaining the versatility to play inside or out.

Three-star DL Carson Gentle

Gentle has been committed to the Vols since July 2022. He ranks as the No. 852 prospect in the 2024 class. He is also the No. 86 defensive lineman and the No. 29 prospect from Tennessee.

Gentle attends McCallie School in Chattanooga. He had 58 tackles with 15 coming for a loss last season.

Three-star DL Jeremias Heard

Heard committed to the Vols in April, his only scholarship offer. The 6-foot-7 and 290-pound out of Model 9-12 school in Georgia got snaps in different spots along the defensive line as a junior.

Heard ranks as the No. 872 prospect nationally and the No. 90 defensive lineman. He is the No. 99 prospect out of Georgia.
