Tennessee football has made a lot of prospects’ top schools over the recent days.
As class of 2025 prospects begin narrowing their choices, we will see more top schools released. Here is a recap of some of the recent prospects’ trimming of schools.
Four-star Amaree Williams
Amaree Williams, a four-star EDGE, released his top schools on Thursday. The Vols made the cut along with Georgia, Florida, Miami, Michigan, Alabama, Oregon, South Carolina, USC, Florida State, Kentucky, Penn State and Texas.
Williams ranks as the No. 75 prospect in the 2025 class and the No. 10 EDGE according to 247Sports Composite. He attends The Benjamin (Fla.) School. Williams unofficially visited Tennessee in March.
Williams’ father, Moe Williams, played for 10 years in the NFL after a standout career at Kentucky.
Five-star Jonah Williams
Jonah Williams narrowed his schools to 12, and the Vols made the cut. Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, USC, Oregon, Alabama, Ohio State, Texas A&M, LSU, TCU and Arizona State along with Tennessee.
Williams ranks as the No. 16 prospect nationally and the No. 2 linebacker in the 2025 class. Out of Ball (Tx.) High School, he is the No. 4 prospect from Texas.
Williams received a scholarship offer from Tennessee in March. He finished the 2022 season with 59 tackles and four interceptions. He also caught a handful of passes on the offensive side.
Four-star Donovan Johnson
Donovan Johnson is the No. 115 prospect nationally, and he included the Vols in his top schools. He is also the No. 9 running back in the class.
Johnson narrowed his list to five. Those five included USC, Georgia, Ohio State and Florida State along with Tennessee. Johnson attends IMG Academy, and he is the No. 19 prospect from Florida.
Johnson was in Knoxville the last weekend of September for an unofficial visit. He also visited during a junior day in the spring. He received an offer at the end of 2022.
Four-star Zahir Mathis
Zahir Mathis ranks as a four-star prospect and the No. 40 prospect in the class. He is the No. 5 EDGE in the class as well.
Mathis trimmed his list to five, including Ohio State, Florida State, Texas and South Carolina along with the Vols.
Mathis received a scholarship offer from Tennessee last September, and he took a visit over the summer.
