Who Tennessee Football is Targeting in 2025 Class

Tennessee football has wrapped up its 2024 class and it looking ahead to the 2025 class. The class has already gotten off to a hot start.

Four-star Jack VanDorselaer highlights the 2025 class already for the Vols. The class also includes three-star cornerbacks Tyler Redmond, Shamar Arnoux and Dylan Lewis to go with three-star running back Justin Baker. The class ranks No. 12 by 247Sports early on in the cycle.

With that being said, here are some names the Vols are pursuing in the 2025 cycle.

QB George MacIntyre

George MacIntyre is probably the biggest name for the Vols in the 2025 class. The 6-foot-5.5 and 182-pound quarterback from Nashville’s Brentwood Academy fits the mold Josh Heupel wants at the QB position perfectly.

MacIntyre ranks as the No. 15 prospect overall in the class and the No. 2 quarterback. He is also the No. 1 prospect from Tennessee according to 247Sports Composite.

The five-star quarterback is likely to announce his commitment in the spring with the choice coming down to Alabama, Tennessee and LSU.

ATH Cameron Sparks

Another in-state product, Cameron Sparks out of Baylor School is also a top target for Tennessee in the 2025 cycle. Sparks ranks as the No. 39 overall prospect and the No. 1 athlete in the class. He likely projects as a wide receiver for the Vols, but he played both receiver and running back for Baylor School.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect has visited Tennessee several times since receiving an offer in June 2021. Georgia and Auburn seem like the top competition for Tennessee.

DL Ethan Utley

Ethan Utley, a four-star out of Ensworth in Nashville, has emerged as one of the top prospects on the defensive side of the ball for Tennessee. He ranks as the No. 112 prospect overall in the 2025 class and the No. 11 defensive lineman.

Utley included Tennessee in his top schools among Syracuse, Texas, Michigan and Oklahoma. Utley was in Neyland Stadium for a pair of games in 2023.

OL David Sanders

It is no wonder that David Sanders is a top prospect for Tennessee. The five-star offense lineman is among a top target for most schools. He ranks as the No. 2 prospect overall in the class and the No. 1 offensive lineman.

Out of Providence Day School in North Carolina, Sanders holds Tennessee in high regard along with Clemson, Georgia and Alabama. The 6-foot-6, 270-pound lineman holds offers from at least 33 schools.

CB Onis Konanbanny

Onis Konanbanny has visited Tennessee several times, emerging as a top target in the 2025 class. The four-star defensive back out of Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in Columbia, South Carolina has 32 scholarship offers.

Konanbanny ranks as the No. 253 prospect overall and the No. 28 cornerback in the class. He is originally from Europe, and North Carolina is also a top contender for Konanbanny. He was last in Knoxville for Tennessee’s matchup with Georgia.

OL Josh Petty

Another five-star offensive lineman, Josh Petty is a target — and a need — for Tennessee in the 2025 class. Petty ranks as the No. 20 prospect in the 2025 class and the No. 3 offensive tackle. He is from Fellowship Christian School in Roswell, Georgia. Georgia is also a top contender for the 6-foot-5, 262-pound tackle.

S Martels Carter Jr.

One of the few prospects Tennessee is pursuing in the state of Kentucky, Martels Carter Jr. received an offer from the Vols in May 2022. He ranks as the No. 172 prospect overall and the No. 13 safety. He is also the top prospect out of Kentucky.

Arkansas, Clemson, Colorado and Florida are among some 34 schools to extend the 5-foot-11, 179-pound safety a scholarship offer.

WR Caleb Cunningham

Out of Choctaw County High School in Ackerman, Mississippi, receiver Caleb Cunningham received a scholarship offer from Tennessee almost exactly one year ago. He was in Knoxville for Tennessee’s matchup with Georgia. Mississippi State has a crystal ball in 247Sports for Cunningham.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound receiver ranks as the No. 10 prospect overall and the No. 2 wide receiver. LSU and Alabama are also in the running for Cunningham.
