Class of 2025 five-star quarterback George MacIntyre spent much of Saturday with Tennessee football head coach Josh Heupel and offensive coordinator Joey Halzle. MacIntyre was taking in one last visit before his scheduled commitment.
The 6-foot-5.5 and 182-pound quarterback will announce his commitment on Monday, Jan. 22, at 10:30 a.m. ET. While MacIntyre hasn’t officially named a list of finalists, LSU, Alabama and the Vols are widely considered the top contenders.
Among the three assumed finalists, Tennessee is the leader for MacIntyre going into his commitment.
LSU recently picked up a commitment from the No. 1 quarterback in the 2025 cycle, Bryce Underwood. That likely makes the Tigers a non-factor at this point in the cycle.
As for Alabama, Nick Saban’s retirement likely derails MacIntyre’s recruitment with the Crimson Tide. Although the new staff at Alabama extended MacIntyre a scholarship offer, his commitment date makes it unlikely he had time to form a relationship with the new staff at Alabama.
Both of those events leave Tennessee as the likely suitor for MacIntyre. Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports put in a crystal ball for MacIntyre to end up a Vol. Robbie Weinstein of Vandy247 also put a crystal ball for MacIntyre to end up at Tennessee.
On3’s recruitment service also shows MacIntyre trending toward Tennessee as well.
MacIntyre led Brentwood Academy to the 2022 state semifinals by throwing for 2,341 yards and 19 touchdowns. He ended his junior season in 2023 with 3,229 yards and 28 total touchdowns for Brentwood Academy. He holds 36 scholarship offers.
MacIntyre comes from a football family with his late grandfather being the former Vanderbilt head coach. His uncle is the current head coach at FIU.
The quarterback has also picked up some offers on the hardwood as well, showcasing his athleticism.
