Spring sports just keep on trucking for Tennessee. The Vols just won an exciting Super Regional series that went to the third game and is now preparing to show up in Omaha later this week to compete with seven other teams for the national title. Tony Vitello has Tennessee Baseball hitting on all the gears, winning the SEC regular season championship (co-champs with Kentucky but Vols did win the series against the Cats), then winning the SEC Tourney title, the NCAA Regional title and then the just completed Super Regional title. But, the Tennessee Baseball team wasn’t the only team that had a successful weekend.
The Tennessee Track & Field team showed up strong in the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The Vols totaled ten All-American performances during the championships held in Eugene Oregon. The Vol All-American performances included:
Emmanuel Bynum – 400 meter dash, 400 meter relay
Ja’Kwan Hale – 400 meter hurdles, 400 meter relay
Rasheeme Griffith – 400 meter relay
Christian Parker – 400 meter relay
Clement Ducos – 400 meter hurdles
Grant Campbell – high jump
Yaseem Abdalla – 5000 meters
Aron Avarez Aranda – discus
After those ten Vol All-American performances, it was the Lady Vols turn. The Lady Vols also recorded ten All-American performances. The Lady Vol All-American performances included;
Javonya Valcourt – 400 meter dash, mile relay
Kyla Robinson Hubbard – mile relay
Dajour Miles – mile relay
Brianna White – 400 meter dash, mile relay

That’s a lot of All-American hardware the Tennessee Track & Field team brought back from the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Let’s hope the Tennessee Baseball team can bring back the big iron & natty from Omaha to close out an outstanding spring sports season and the 2023-24 sports year.
