Off The Hook Sports has been honored with three awards from the Tennessee Sports Writers Association, while senior columnist Jimmy Hyams was designated as the top writer in the state in his division.

Hyams won the “Gary Lundy Writer of the Year Award” for a combination of entries, which included Hyams’ thoughts on former Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton III and suggestions on how to control NIL and the transfer portal.

Dave Hooker was named the state’s second-best columnist behind John Adams of the Knoxville News Sentinel. Adams is a contributor on The Dave Hooker Show on Tuesdays. Hyams joins Hooker and co-host Caleb Calhoun on Wednesdays. Hyams also won third place for best event/news writer.

Lundy was an award-winning sportswriter who passed away suddenly from a heart attack at 49-years-old after falling ill at the Knoxville News Sentinel in 2004.
