Tennessee is one win away from the College Baseball World Series Final. A familiar foe stands in their way.
You might remember Florida State. They were the victim of what is being called the greatest baseball game in Tennessee baseball history, an amazing 12-11 win over the Seminoles that included a three-run comeback in the bottom of the ninth inning on Friday night. Now, the Vols have to top the Seminoles once again. If Tennessee wins, they’ll make the College World Series Final for the first time in school history. If not, the Vols will face a winner-take-all game on Thursday.
If history holds, Tennessee is a lock to win the College World Series since they would have to lose back-to-back games after the Vols’ impressive 2-0 start in Omaha, Neb. The Vols haven’t lost back-to-back games since the opening SEC series in March when Tennessee dropped two games to Alabama.
The Vols will be coming off two days of rest while Florida State had to play on Tuesday, beating North Carolina 9-5 to advance to Wednesday’s game against Tennessee.
Per most sports books, the Vols are 2-to-1 favorites to beat the Seminoles, who have been deemed 1.5-run underdogs. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m. EST, but weather could push the game back later in the afternoon. Scattered showers and light precipitation are predicted throughout the day in Omaha.
