Highly touted EDGE Chase Linton’s recruitment marathon is nearing the finish line. The four-star athlete has scheduled a commitment date of November 20th. After previously committing to Rutgers, Linton had a change of heart back in August. Since his decommitment, he has toured many schools with most analysts predicting he will end up at the University of Georgia. But predictions do not always come true. Does Tennessee have a shot at this elite player? Here are a few things to know about Linton.
Award-winning athlete
The senior calls Atlanta home and attends North Atlanta High School. Linton was recently named the GHSA 6-6A All-Region Defensive Player of the Year. In addition to football, he is also a track and field star in the triple jump and shot put.
Hot prospect
Per the 247Sports.com composite rankings, Linton is ranked as the No. 190 player nationally and the No. 18 at the EDGE position. He’s also the No. 28 prospect from the state of Georgia.
“Ascending pass rusher with some of the best multi-sport athletic markers in his position group for the cycle highlighted by a staggering 44-8.5 triple jump personal best pushing 6-foot-4, 215 pounds,” noted 247sports analyst Hunter Standish. “Checks every box physically with an explosive lower half that can generate plenty of power paired with a nearly 80-inch wingspan and elite arm length measurements. Could easily stick at edge rusher long-term but owns the physical clay to spin down and find a home on the defensive line after time in a collegiate strength and conditioning program.”
