Tennessee’s newest commitment can’t be boxed into a corner – or boxed in by a cornerback.
Nathan Leacock is as versatile of a receiver prospect as you’ll find in recruiting circles. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver from Millbrook High School in Raleigh, N.C., can play slot or wide receiver according to football analyst Chris Landry.
“What impresses me most about him on film is his versatility in which they use him at the high school level,” Landry said. “He can really leap and has exceptional body control and balance. He has underrated speed because he can really get going on the deep routes. He makes quite of bit of plays in their offense and will help the Vols’ offense in their multiple receiver positions in that he is capable of playing any one of their receiver positions inside or outside.”
The Vols get more than just versatility with Leacock, who announced his commitment to Tennessee over North Carolina and Michigan on Friday. The Vols also get a player who is expected to be a leader and has a high football IQ.
“College coaches who know him well, tell me that he is very intelligent, which likely has much to do with his ability to learn and adjust to things quickly on the field. I’m told he is a very outgoing and outwardly social person who should not only fit well, but potentially be an early leader for the locker room.”
Leacock is Tennessee’s 19th commitment of the 2023 class. The Vols rank No. 7 in the SEC in recruiting and second best in the SEC behind Georgia.
