Tennessee began preseason camp with bad news at the running back position when it was announced that Len’Neth Whitehead would miss the entire season with an unspecified, upper-body injury. The Vols got better news on Wednesday.
UT received a surprise addition to the 2022 class when Lyn-J Dixon declared he would leave West Virginia for Tennessee. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound running back is expected to participate in practice this week, according to 247Sports. Dixon announced his decision to leave the Mountaineers on Instagram after just a semester in Morgantown. He played his previous four seasons at Clemson, in which he was suspended and received limited playing time for “team discipline” reasons.
“He just needs to grow up,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said after an early season game. “Needs to grow up. It’s just that simple. He needs to be a team player. And just grow up. He’s a very good player, obviously. Need him to stay out of Spiller’s doghouse. That’s really it.”
It’s a good thing that Swinney doesn’t have a dog in Knoxville.
