Tennessee’s regular season may be over, but recruiting is still in full swing.
Samuel M’Pemba – a five-star prospect – is set to announce his commitment on Sunday at 5:30pm. He will choose from Tennessee, Miami, Florida, and Georgia.
M’Pemba ranks as the No. 30 prospect in the class of 2023, and the No. 4 EDGE rusher.
Unfortunately for Tennessee, M’Pemba was in attendance for the Volunteers’ loss against Georgia. For the Vols’ sake, hopefully the rowdy environment in Athens doesn’t weigh too heavily on M’Pemba’s mind.
Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports projected the 6-foot-3.5 and 240-pound EDGE to Georgia and most seem to think he’ll end up a Bulldog. However, the Vols are still in the running.
M’Pemba has visited each school in his top four several times. He was in Knoxville for Tennessee’s win against Alabama. The Volunteers extended M’Pemba a scholarship offer in August 2020.
Tim Banks is said to have traveled to IMG Academy ahead of M’Pemba’s Sunday announcement.
“Tennessee has a great family atmosphere,” M’Pemba told ON3. “I have really liked getting to know the coaches there and they have had a great season.”
The Missouri native attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. He will be expected to have an immediate impact in whatever program he chooses.
