Class of 2024 athlete and Tennessee target Boo Carter was showing out at the TSSAA State Basketball Championships this week.
Despite Carter’s best efforts, Brainerd High School fell in the semifinal on Friday to Alcoa High School.
Carter dropped seven points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals in the loss, but his points came in clutch time. Carter drilled a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left to put Brainer within striking distance.
Carter heaved up a three at the buzzer for the win, but it rattled out and Brainerd was eliminated. Carter’s stat line may be deceiving as he spent most of the game on the bench in foul trouble.
Carter showed out in Brainerd’s quarterfinal game as well, dropping 10 assists. He has averaged nearly seven assists and over four steals a game for Brainerd since transferring from Chattanooga Christian School.
On the football field, Carter has become one of the Vols’ top in-state targets. The four-star prospect ranks as the No. 4 prospect from the Tri-Star State.
Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports gave a crystal ball projection for Carter, predicting he will end up in the Orange and White. Carter also sits as the No. 290 prospect in the country and the No. 34 athlete in his class.
Before transferring to Brainerd High School near the end of the football season, Carter was at Chattanooga Christian School. He had 678 yards and 18 TDs on the ground, and he had 36 receptions for 780 yards and 10 TDs through the air for CCS.
At the end of December, Carter announced his top five schools. He included Tennessee among Colorado, Oregon, Ohio State, and Michigan.
As spring and simmer visits roll in, Carter will continue to be a name to watch for Tennessee.
