Four-star wide receiver and Tennessee target Rico Scott announced his top-six schools on Thursday.
The Vols made the cut, joining Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Penn State and Texas A&M.
Scott was extended a scholarship offer on February 13. He is expected to visit Tennessee on March 28. He ranks as the No. 309 prospect nationally, the No. 55 wide receiver in the 2024 class and the No. 12 prospect from Pennsylvania. He currently ranks as a four-star prospect.
The Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt prospect finished last season with 1,184 yards and 18 touchdowns on 66 receptions. He also averaged 33.5 yards on six kick returns and he ran the ball six times for 77 yards and a touchdown.
As a wide receiver, it is no surprise that Tennessee has caught Scott’s eye. He also mentioned the recent addition of five-star signal caller Nico Iamaleava as something that piqued his interest in Tennessee.
“I like how they throw the ball with their offense,” Scott told 247Sports. “I developed a good relationship with the coaches recently and I see they have Nico (Iamaleava), so they are going to have a quarterback to throw to me and throw the ball a lot.”
Scott was crucial in Bishop McDevitt’s state title run, leading them to a 13-1 season en route to clinching the Pennsylvania class 4A title.
Scott’s high school is just over a 90-minute drive from Penn State. The Nittany Lions have hosted him for several visits.
Colorado, who also made the cut in Scott’s top-six, have made a heavy push for the prospect. One of Deion Sanders’ first scholarship offers when he became the Buffaloes head coach was to Scott.
Another interesting development in Scott’s recruitment process has been Dabo Swinney’s squad at Clemson. Scott has yet to receive an offer from the Tigers, but it seems the mutual interest is growing between the two.
Clemson is expected to host Scott sometime in the spring. Don’t be surprised he is extended a scholarship offer when he visits.
