Tennessee football made the cut for in-state offensive lineman Ronan O’Connell. The three-star class of 2024 prospect posted his top schools list on Twitter.
His top schools include Clemson and Wisconsin as well as Tennessee.
“Truly thankful for every school that has recruited me up to this point. With that being said here’s my top 3 schools! Recruitment still open,” O’Connell wrote in his post.
O’Connell, who ranks as the No. 13 prospect from Tennessee, has visited Tennessee several times since being extended a scholarship offer in February of 2022. His last visit to Knoxville came in March when he traveled to watch one of the Vols’ spring practices.
O’Connell has an official visit locked in with Wisconsin in June. He also visited the Badgers at one of their home games last season.
The 6-foot-4 and 273-pound lineman ranks as the No. 38 offensive tackle in his class and the No. 535 prospect nationally, regardless of position.
O’Connell is a part of Josh Heupel and his staff’s objective to lock down in-state prospects. He attends Fred J. Page High School in Franklin, Tennessee.
Tennessee offensive line coach Glen Elarbee and offensive coordinator Joey Halzle were at Page High School to visit the prospect during the spring. Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports has put in a crystal ball projection that O’Connell will become a Vol.
While helping lead Page High School to a 12-3 record, O’Connell also had success on the wrestling mat.
The 2024 offensive line prospect has a verified 75.4-inch wing span according to 247Sports. He also self-reported a 4.9-second 40-yard dash, an impressive time for the offensive lineman.
One of O’Connell’s most recent offers came from the Clemson Tigers, who made his top schools list. The Tigers extended him a scholarship offer on April 5. It is safe to assume O’Connell will lock in official visits with the Vols and Badgers.
