The momentum is building for Tennessee’s 2024 class. Jesse Perry, an offensive out of Middle Tennessee Christian School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., has announced his commitment to Tennessee football.
Perry ranks as a three-star prospect in the 2024 class. He is the No. 74 offensive tackle and the No. 33 prospect out of Tennessee.
The 6-foot-6, 275-pound offensive lineman didn’t name any top schools and picked the Vols over offers from 24 other schools. Tennessee extended Perry a scholarship offer in February and he was on campus for a visit just two weeks ago. He also was in Knoxville in January as well as in the fall when Tennessee played UT Martin.
Since his visit, the Vols emerged as favorites to land the prospect. Landing Perry is another step in Josh Heupel’s emphasis on in-state recruits. Nationally, Perry sits as the No. 904 prospect in his class.
Duke, North Carolina and N.C. State have all hosted Perry recently for visits. He also took trips to Missouri and Vanderbilt before deciding to take his talents to Tennessee. He also held offers from Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
“Sat in meetings, and it was great listening to Elarbee coach up his players,” Perry told 247Sports after his visit. “I feel like I could definitely play under him. He has a really good coaching style. He has constructive criticism, criticizes guys, but I know he loves his guys and he’s not going to put them down. He just wants them to get better and wants the best for them.”
During his visit, Perry felt that Tennessee football really wanted him and made him a priority. Obviously, the staff’s efforts worked out.
Four-star quarterback Jake Merklinger, four-star athlete Johnathan Echols, four-star JJ Harrell, four-star cornerback Kaleb Beasley, four-star Marcus Goree Jr. and three-star defensive lineman Carson Gentle round out the rest of Tennessee’s class.
