Tennessee Football: In-State OL Ronan O’Connell Sets Commitment Date

The busy month of July for Tennessee football recruiting is getting busier. Three-star offensive lineman Ronan O’Connell has set a commitment date.

O’Connell will announce his decision Tuesday, July 4. He will make his decision at 2 p.m. ET.

O’Connell ranks as the No. 595 prospect nationally and the No. 43 offensive tackle according to 247Sports Composite rankings. Out of Fred J. Page High School in Franklin, Tennessee, O’Connell ranks as the No. 17 prospect out of the Tri-Star State.

The decision for O’Connell will likely come down to Clemson and Tennessee. The Vols hosted the offensive lineman for an official visit during the June 23 weekend. Clemson hosted the three-star prospect during the June 2 weekend. He also officially visited Wisconsin during the June 9 weekend.

Two crystal balls in the 247Sports database, including one from Steve Wiltfong, predict O’Connell to commit to the Vols. There is also a third crystal ball predicting O’Connell to commit to the Tigers.

O’Connell holds over 30 offers. Some notable offers include Auburn, Arkansas and Kentucky, as well as the three schools he officially visited.

O’Connell, an in-state prospect, is another crucial piece of Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel’s efforts to lock down Tennessee recruitment.

Tennessee holds 15 commitments in its current class. The 2024 class for the Vols ranks No. 10 in the nation according to 247Sports. The Vols recently picked up a commitment from four-star offensive lineman Max Anderson.

Satterwhite could add to the deep offensive linemen class Tennessee offensive line coach Glen Elarbee is creating in the 2024 class. Three-star offensive linemen Gage Ginther and Jesse Perry are also apart of the 2024 class.

The 2024 class for the Vols is currently comprised of four-star quarterback Jake Merklinger, four-star athlete Johnathan Echols, four-star cornerback Kaleb Beasley, four-star Peyton Lewis, four-star offensive lineman Anderson, four-star athlete Boo Carter, four-star defensive lineman Kellen Lindstrom, four-star linebacker Jordan Burns four-star athlete Marcus Goree Jr. and three-star defensive linemen Carson Gentle and Jeremais Heard along with three-star offensive linemen Ginther and Perry and three-star safety Edress Farooq.
