July is shaping up to be a busy month for Tennessee football recruiting. Several prospects have already scheduled their commitment announcements this month.

Prospects are unable to meet with coaches during the July dead period, which lasts until July 25. Tennessee’s 2024 class currently ranks No. 12 by 247Sports. The month of July could be crucial to improving that ranking.

Here’s a look at prospects who have locked in a decision in July.

Five-star EDGE Elijah Rushing

Rushing, out of Salpointe Catholic High School in Tuscon, Arizona, will make his college commitment on July 6.

The five-star edge rusher officially visited Tennessee. He has also officially visited Oregon, Notre Dame, Arizona and UCLA.

The 6-6 and 235-pounder ranks as the No. 25 prospect nationally and the No. 3 EDGE in the 2024 class. He ranks up 11.5 sacks and 73 tackles, including 13.5 for loss in 2022.

Oregon is trending for the five-star prospect.

Four-star OL William Satterwhite

Satterwhite has narrowed his choices to Clemson and Tennessee, and he is expected to make his commitment announcement on July 7.

The 6-foot-4.5 and 300-pound lineman ranks nationally as the No. 191 prospect and the No. 11 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 class by 247Sports Composite. Out of Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio, Satterwhite is the No. 7 prospect out of the state.

There is no clear lean in Satterwhite’s recruitment thus far.

Russell announced he will be committing on July 14, and the race has largely come down to Tennessee and Arkansas. He has officially visited the Razorbacks and South Carolina as well.

The 6-2 and 230-pound back out of Benton (AR.) High School ranks as the No. 288 prospect and the No. 24 running back in the class. He ran for 1,643 yards and 26 touchdowns on 6.8 yards per carry as a junior, while catching 22 passes for 224 yards and one touchdown.

Four-star CB Cai Bates

While he has not set a specific date, a July commitment seems likely for Bates.

Bates received an offer from Tennessee in March during his first visit. The prospect out of Edgewater (FL.) High School officially visited Tennessee in June.

The 6-1.5, 180-pound four-star prospect also officially visited LSU, Alabama and Florida State. The race will come down to Tennessee and LSU. He ranks as the No. 127 prospect nationally.

Four-star OL Bennett Warren

Warren, a four-star lineman, is expected to announce a commitment soon. He has officially visited Tennessee, Michigan, Oklahoma and Texas A&M. He named the final four schools to include Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

The 6-7.5 and 330-pound lineman would be a massive pickup for Tennessee. Out of Fort Bend (Tx.) Christian Academy, Warren holds a crystal ball to Michigan and Texas A&M currently.

Four-star LB Edwin Spillman

Brother of freshman wideout Nate Spillman, the prospect out of Lipscomb Academy in Nashville has visited Tennessee on several occasions. The four-star has already officially visited Florida State and Ohio State, but Tennessee is the front-runner for Spillman. He has also officially visited Georgia

Spillman ranks as the No. 253 prospect nationally and the No. 24 linebacker. The 6-1, 216-pound linebacker is the No. 5 prospect in Tennessee.

Who has already announced?

Tennessee has missed out on a couple of offensive lineman in July.

Tennessee has been trending for offensive tackle Ronan O’Connell, out of Fred J Page high school in Franklin, Tennessee. He ranks as the No. 46 tackle in the class.

He also officially visited Clemson and Wisconsin. O’Connell announced his commitment to Clemson on July 4.

Offensive tackle Daniel Calhoun, out of Walton (Ga.) High School, was going to be a tough battle for Tennessee. Ultimately, he stayed in-state and committed to Georgia on July 5.

The 6-foot-6.5 and 330-pound lineman ranks as the No. 96 prospect nationally and the No. 6 offensive tackle.
