In-State Prospect Spotted in All Vol Gear

Although wearing Tennessee apparel doesn’t always mean a commitment is coming, it shows that head coach Josh Heupel is succeeding in his pursuit of this in-state prospect.

Four-star athlete Boo Carter played his Thursday night high school game in a Tennessee sleeve, Tennessee gloves, and a Tennessee towel.

Carter recorded four touchdowns during the game for Chattanooga Christian School. The 5’10, 184-pound prospect plays running back for CCS, but will likely be moved to a wide receiver or defensive back position in college. Carter scored 10 of his team’s 11 touchdowns in the past two games.

CCS is 6-1 on the year; their only loss coming against McCallie, a known high school football powerhouse.

Carter’s most recent visit to Knoxville for Tennessee’s historic win against Florida made quite an impression on the young recruitt.

“It really pushed them up, to be honest,” Carter told si.com following his gameday visit. “Tennessee had always been around the top, but it really moved them up because they beat Florida, and they haven’t been able to do for the last four or five years.”

The in-state prospect has clearly become an important target for the Tennessee coaching staff. Both Heupel and secondary coach Willie Martinez visited Carter in Chattanooga following the Ball State victory earlier in the season.

Carter has become such a big name for the Volunteers that a Tennessee fan was spotted at Chattanooga Christian School’s matchup on Thursday night boasting a sign. His attempts to help aid Carter in his collegiate decision did not go unnoticed.

Carter and CCS travel to Knoxville on Oct. 14 to play Grace Christian Academy, as well as Oct. 28 to face Webb Academy.  It’s safe to say that some Tennessee fans will be in attendance not only to see the prospect play, but also to help their team secure his commitment.
