As weekly awards continue to pile up, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel has nabbed one of the best of them. Accolades tend to follow a win like the Vols had when they beat Alabama 52-49 on Saturday.
Heupel, in just his second season with the Vols, has won the weekly Dodd Trophy Award as the nation’s top coach. The Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award is presented annually to the coach who “excels on the field in the classroom and in the community.”
Tennessee has never had a coach win the Dodd Trophy, which has been in existence since 1976 and is presented at the end of the season.
