Tennessee hosted not one, but two prospects from Lake City High School (S.C.) over the weekend.

One of the two was class of 2025 prospect Treshon Burgess. He never thought he would see his little town get the attention it is.

“It’s just I never knew big schools were actually looking at little Lake City, but the city I live in everybody has potential, it’s just some people choose the wrong route,” Burgess told Off The Hook Sports.

Burgess visited Knoxville with his teammate and fellow class of 2025 prospect Amare Adams. Burgess called it “real cool” and that he “loves that we both go along and probably end up signing to a division 1 school on the same day.”

Just a sophomore in high school, Burgess has chosen the right route. He is receiving power-five attention early in his recruitment to play in the secondary.

“Makes you feel better, most of all it makes you want to go harder knowing you have coaches’ attention and that you have a chance to move to the next level in your favorite thing to do,” Burgess said.

Burgess finished this past season with 50 tackles, three interceptions, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles and five touchdowns.

Burgess got the opportunity to talk to Tennessee’s staff during his visit. He also felt the environment at Tennessee makes it stand out.

“The energy and the people around they stand out, the stuff around the facility, the facility it self stands out also,” he said.

Tennessee’s staff expressed an interest in Burgess that he will remember coming out of the visit.

“They said some really good things,” Burgess added. “I have the size for it and I could fit in there. Also that I seem locked in all the time and they were glad I could make it to be there.”

When he isn’t playing football, Burgess runs track for Lake City. He runs a 48-second 400-meter and he runs the 200-meter in the low 22-second range.

“It really helps me be faster and kind of helps with the explosiveness,” he said of how track correlates to football.

Burgess doesn’t have many of his off-season visits scheduled yet, but he is open to returning to Knoxville. He will also be visiting Coastal Carolina in April.

Putting on the Orange and White and taking photos gave Burgess a look at what he would look like as a Vol. It is a look he enjoys.

“I actually look good in it,” he said. “I just love to ball. That’s my life… I would definitely go to Tennessee.”
